Adoption: Is It a Difficult Process? | Albertazzi Law Firm

Updated: Feb 28, 2020

Adoption is often seen as something that’s very difficult and expensive, and it really doesn’t have to be that way.

Adoption can be a very rewarding experience that literally saves someone’s life. In this short video below, Anthony Albertazzi speaks about some of the things that come up during this process:

In many cases where both parties are in agreement, such as when another family member wants to adopt a child from their birth parent, the adoption process can be fairly easy and straightforward. After you petition the court, they will most likely order a criminal background check. This is to help make sure that the prospective adoptive parent isn’t someone that’s been known to children.

Another part of the process depends on whether you’ve already been living with the child. If not, a representative from Social Services may come and inspect the home to make sure it’s safe for the child to occupy.

After this step, if everything is in order and the necessary paperwork is filed, a new birth certificate can be issued and you can adopt the child.

If you’re considering adopting a child, a great first step would be to consult an experienced attorney. Albertazzi Law Firm can help, call us today at <a href="tel:541-317-0231">541-317-0231
